The Artist in Her Own Words:

Jane's studio, complete with Sid, her constant companionJane's studio, complete with Sid, her constant companion

I spent my formative years, crafting my skills, copying works by 18th & 19th century Masters. The demand for my copies outstripped that of my originals; so my focus was channelled into executing a product which embraced the qualities embued in such works by Romney, Reynolds, Ramsay and Raeburn.

I discovered that I was also able to transpose an original pastel into oil with great credibility, and work from Black and White reference sources into colour.

In the late seventies I exhibited twice in London, once at the Chenil Galleries in Chelsea and also at Selfridges, showing landscape and portrait work.

A leading London auction house employed me to produce a copy, which was very well received, and I occasionally am referred to clients obliged to sell originals.

The pendulum has swung the other way now and most of my work is original, some has been shown in Connecticut USA and others have found homes in Cairo, Spain, Sweden and Germany.

I work in a studio surrounded by trees and a stream in a good voice where I can see my horses and hear the rich bird life. I try and ride out every morning before I paint, which means I'm invigorated when I pick up my first paint brush.

I would hope that if you decided you liked my style and commissioned a painting you would derive untold pleasure and your senses be the richer for it.
